Live Stream Presentation and Q&A — Protect Thacker Pass
I want to share two videos from last week. In the first, myself and my good friend and Protect Thacker Pass co-founder Will Falk provide an update and answer audience questions about the fight to Protect Thacker Pass, which has now been ongoing for more than two years. On Thursday, February 16th, three tribes filed a new lawsuit against the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to protect Thacker Pass. Will, who is an attorney, is representing two of them in Federal Court. This streamed live on February 19th, 2023.
"Tusks" — Slam Poetry by Dominique Christina
Last weekend I was down in East Palo Alto (EPA) to visit friends and help record a Black History Month event at Live in Peace, a community non-profit which does great work with youth in the community. One of the performers was Dominique Christina, an amazingly talented slam poet (five-time national champion) who I first met back in 2014 at Earth at Risk. Since, I’ve been lucky enough to see her a few times. She is a transcendent artist.
Do you know of any initiatives run by indigenous peoples or activists of any kind that are resisting the proposed Cobalt and Lithium mines in northern Ontario, (James Bay, Red Lake, and the refineries in Thunder bay on lake superior)?
Hey Max
I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do to protect the body of Mother Earth and our fellow non-human beings.
I may not agree with all your ideas about the solely anthropogenic causes of climate change but I think you are doing noble works and will do what I can to share your updates and info in my networks.
I recently published an article that explores "The Continuity of Colonialism" all the way from the buffalo wars right up until today with RCMP being militarized to act as corporate mercenaries (for TC Energy formerly TransCanada) / Coastal GasLink’s) in their violent invasion into the Unceded territory of the Wet'suwet'en Nation in BC and what is happening where you are in Thacker Pass.

Keep up the great work my friend!
