Hi. I'm Max Wilbert.
I’m an organizer, writer, photographer, and wilderness guide. I’m the co-author of the book Bright Green Lies: How The Environmental Movement Lost Its Way and What We Can Do About It, which was released in 2021. I’m also the co-founder of Protect Thacker Pass and part of several other grassroots environmental and political organizations, and I live in a small cabin the woods of Oregon.
For nearly two decades I’ve been fighting to save our planet. This work has taken me to the Siberian Arctic with climate scientists, to participate in fossil fuel blockades locking down to heavy equipment in Utah, to collaborate with grassroots environmentalists in the Philippine archipelago, to participating in prayer runs for sacred water in the Great Basin, and to pipeline blockades in Canada.
Recently, I began to suspect that social media platforms were banning my content due to algorithms (or overzealous employees) convinced that my criticisms of wind power, solar energy, and electric vehicles mean I am a climate change denier. Despite how silly this is (I actually filmed and edited a documentary film about global warming, and having been both raising the alarm and fighting to halt global warming since I learned about it as a kid), anyone who falls prey to the censorship of modern technology monopolies is essentially powerless; so, I am here on Substack.
Everything is free for now, but if you want to support what I’m doing, you can sign up for a subscription here, or buy my book on my website. Or better yet, you can become an activist yourself. My biggest hope is to inspire others to take action. Thank you!
