This is a MUST LISTEN. So thoughtful, so articulate, connecting the dots between genocide, ecocide, and a message of cautious and informed way forward for resistance. Also, Thacker Pass update! Max, thank you so much for posting this. I SO needed to hear this, we ALL do. Give it a listen, people. Really grateful for this.

I so appreciate this linking of resource extraction, weapons production (and production!!), and war and genocide. Ecocide is intertwined with genocide, and I have been hurt and baffled by the silence of important climate and environmental groups and leaders during the devastation of Gaza! #militarismfuelsclimatecrisis

What you describe in the sneaky sinister and gradual expansion of an existing project is exactly what has happened with Zenith Energy in Portland, Oregon. Zenith routes dangerous oil trains through the Columbia River Gorge and Portland neighborhoods to an export facility on the Willamette River

Where can I (and others) learn more about this project, Janet?

Thank you Max for your video... thoughts and encouragement back at you. Bummer about the size of Thacker. Slime balls. Didn't know. :(

i just read that GM who’s invested something like 650 mil into the expansion says that the ecological damage is necessary AND minuscule in order to conquer climate change🥹🤣😕

I live and build in Nevada — and this hits home.

The destruction of Thacker Pass under the guise of “green energy” is the exact kind of extractive thinking we claim to be moving past. As a founder building a sustainability-focused pet food brand here in Nevada, I believe we can’t talk circular economy or climate without standing up for land, people, and truth.

Thank you for connecting the dots — from lithium to settler colonialism to the weapons pipeline. We need more of this clarity and accountability.

I've added a map showing the original mine plan as released to the public in 2021, and the expanded mine plan released on December 31, 2024. Of note: the expanded "CFTS" (clay filter tailings stack; essentially a mountain of toxic waste covering the entire eastern 1/3rd of Thacker Pass) will nearly reach Sentinel Rock and will border Pole Creek.

The mine pit, essentially tripling in size, will utterly destroy the entire western 2/3rds of Thacker Pass.

Thanks for this, Max. Special thanks for bringing up the Gaza genocide and the Anonymous campaign. And yes, state repression under Trump is reaching levels not seen n many years, indeed 9/11 was prep.

This is all adding up to the fact that reform is impossible. Any political initiative which falls short of challenging the entirety of the global capitalist industrial system and seeking its complete dissolution will not be able to get anywhere. The hour is too late, the time for anything else has long passed.
