I hear you Max...last night I watched a movie about the women's suffrage and it was quite amazing. It got me thinking recently how I'm tired of school age children repeatedly being taught how Columbus "discovered" the Americas and So forth . At 2 different schools recently as I switched my daughter from school to another for this very purpose...regarding teaching kids the above mentioned but unlike the 1st school where I informed them how uncomfortable I was as an Original Native to this continent of Great Turtle Island and Abya Yala to the South of their curriculum and wanted to discuss the matter at hand. They in turn called the police and DCF on myself and my child and said I had mental health issues. It was pretty bad and they went real low especially the threat of having my own child taken away from me after I was taken away from my own family...scary as well. Now I'm just pacing my day moment to moment breath by breath because I recently got so scared that I got real sick as well as my daughter and one of our dogs and then my back went out so hence my reason for taking it real slow 🐌.
Anyway the 2nd school thankfully responded in the most professional and kind manner by wanting to learn and grow all about Columbus and Native History...I'm so thankful of this response and still in shock frankly. Just thought I'd share as this is the way I can do what I love doing in terms of dispelling myths and educating people especially young children so they don't see a certain race superior to all others and therefore subjugate all others including plants and animals, etc but instead have a sacred regard for All Living Beings!
Thank you for sharing this story, Helena, and for standing up and speaking out about these things! It's so important. And so important that our kids be exposed to this type of bravery, and more.
Damn! I am so sorry about you personally being sued. I know that Herb would stand with you. I will share your statement about destroying beautiful ecosystems more for the money than to actually fight our Climate crisis. My very best to you. I wonder if the ACLU could help you? Thanks for all you've done! If you do go to court, I hope it will be in the News!
Thanks Kathy! We asked ACLU of Nevada to help out, but they weren’t able to. After a lot of legwork, we were able to assemble a strong, albeit small and under-resourced, legal team to defend us.
"because I love my family, my community, and our world"... lovely and reminded me of the Buddhist three jewels: the Buddha (awakened to the natural law), the Dharma (teachings or great law of liberation), and the Sangha (community), as those are reminders of where to turn to during challenging times.

My heartfelt thanks to this courageous man.
Appreciate the support, Diana!

Thank you for sharing that!
