I love this! I keep hearing more and more about rights of nature. This seems to be a growing trend. Hopefully it keeps getting stronger. Thanks for sharing Max.

Excellent news! I am exploring the UK’s Rights of Nature movement on my substack and am keen to read more about RoN in other countries too. Fingers crossed the bill succeeds and inspires others!

Glad to hear, Becca! To be honest, we're not at all optimistic about this law passing. It, quite deliberately, challenges fundamental (yet unjust) principles of U.S. constitutional law and jurisprudence. We believe promoting these laws and working for them is a form of "collective legal civil disobedience" and part of the culture change we need, but just one part. Sending all our best wishes to RoN advocates across the Atlantic!

In a decent society, humans would consider the land, air, water, sky, and all nonhumans in all their decisions, and would have someone with major or even ultimate authority who advocates for these nonhumans. Unfortunately, modern human societies are very far from being decent or moral, so at best these nonhumans get crumbs or lip service. I'd love to see the U.S. const8itution changed to give equal rights to nonhumans, but humans have a long way to evolve mentally and spiritually before anything like that happens.

Definitely, Jeff. See my above comment to Becca for more on that.

I reside in the Hudson Valley and am equidistant to the Hudson and Delaware rivers.

In short order I am emailing, calling, and then posting letters to my state senator and assemblywoman advocating that they support this bill.
