I am unwell too and I believe it's due to the madness of Christmas which I'm forced to celebrate in these VERY colonial towns of Bethlehem and Woodbury, CT. I absolutely hate the frenzy of it all and spending money I don't have and the list goes on. I am Native to my homeland of present day so-called Colombia and wish more than anything that I could be away from this insanity and be celebrating with my Native brothers and sisters!
Hello Helena, thanks for the comment and I couldn't agree more. Christmas time is such a strange, toxic blend of familial good spirit and celebration wrapped inside consumerism. It reminds me of Jack D. Forbes writing about Wetiko, the disease of never being satiated and always wanting more. Christmas in the U.S. is a profound collective act of dedication to the wetiko sickness.
I concur and then things turned for the worse with my 9 year old feeling it as well and spiking a very high fever almost sending her to hospital. I was able to contain it and heal it but it's often like this in time of extreme stress i.e.holidays whereas the winter solstice is supposed to be a time of inner reflection and rest...very spiritual and beautiful but in reality anything but. I just don't get it. EVERY year I say I'm going to take off but I don't only simply because my daughter loves her adopted grandparents insane holidays hence why I stay...
